For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

1 Corinthians 12 teaches that the church is to function like a body, where each member holds unique value. God gives spiritual gifts and talents to each member and then commissions us to use them for the glory of God. At MEFC, we want to give everyone a place to not only learn about our spiritual gifts but also glorify God as active members of the church body.

Serve in our church

Use your unique gifts to help build the Kingdom.

MEFC has many existing ministries in which you can connect and begin serving. Share with us your interests and our ministry leaders will reach out to you about the next steps. Some ministries require training while others allow you to start right away. Once connected, you will use our church management page to identify your availability and the leader will assign you to a position and time you are needed. Look through the description of each ministry below and see where you might be called to serve. If you have passion and calling for something different, let us know as you might be the perfect person to start a new ministry.

Hospitality team

The hospitality team is actually made up of many other sub-teams. Greeters are the first ones to welcome people into the church building with a smiling face each Sunday morning. Ushers welcome people into the sanctuary and help guests connect with members. After the service, hospitality team volunteers serve coffee and cookies during a time of fellowship.

nursery

Anyone who wants to serve in the nursery will need to complete the child safety training required for all volunteers who work with children. Once that is complete, you can be put on the schedule to serve monthly or quarterly. At MEFC only females who are 16 or older are able to serve and there is always two workers serving together every week. The ages of children in the nursery are newborn to 3 years of age, so most of the activities involve free play with the children.

Worship Team

The worship team leads the faith family in worship in services like our main Sunday morning services as well as Family Celebration Nights. Members interested in serving on worship team will start by filling out an application so that we can learn about worship styles and strengths. Then, they will be invited to sit in on one of our mid-week rehearsals before participating in two additional mid-week rehearsals. Once a final meeting with the worship chair takes place, they will start to be scheduled in the normal rotation. Mid-week rehearsals usually take place on Wednesday evenings at 8:30 PM during the school year and 8:00 PM during the summer. Team members are required to attend the mid-week rehearsal on the weeks they are assigned. The team also meets before the service to run through the set.
